IP Policy
The Quantum Biology Institute conducts foundational research in quantum biology, and our IP framework exists to maximize the proliferation and adoption of the technologies, methods, and tools we develop.
As an open-science nonprofit, our default is broad, permissive release: research software is published under OSI-approved open-source licenses, and data, protocols, and findings are released under open licenses following FAIR principles.
We do not impose ownership or licensing restrictions beyond those required by law or by the terms of a given award. Where patentable inventions arise, we dedicate them to the public domain.
This framework ensures our outputs are usable, reproducible, and freely buildable upon by the broadest possible community.
